Title: How to Create a Glossary of 10 Basic Web Design Terms

Intro: Those who design and build websites, in addition to knowing how to layout and encode their creations, also know a specialized vocabulary that describe their working world. From CSS to Wordpress, this vocabulary describes the unique aspects and elements of web design. But for new Web designers, the vocabulary of Web design may be as confusing as a foreign language. That’s why creating a glossary of 10 basic Web design terms has so much value for inexperienced web designers.

Step 1: Research the language of Web design and make a list of all the related terms you find. Don’t censor your results at this point—your goal is to create a comprehensive list of Web design terminology to ensure that you’ve captured all of the relevant terms.

Step 2: Prune your vocabulary list by identifying and eliminating terms that are seldom used and those that apply less frequently to basic web design functions. Note those terms which are common in your research, and highlight the words that describe basic or foundational elements of web design—words which are crucial to the basic functions or aspects of designing a website.

Step 3: backlinks from your shortened list of web design terms the 10 words which are most essential to an understanding of or discussion about basic web design. Each word should relate to a basic Web design concept or function—terms which one must understand to begin doing Web design. Do not choose those words which apply only in occasional circumstances or only to tangential concepts.

Step 4: Alphabetize the 10 words you’ve chosen, and then write a concise but complete definition for each of them. Explain each term in words an average person would understand, and avoid relying on other Web design jargon when defining the words on your list.
